About Us

Faith Mischel-Golden, MA
Faith Mischel-Golden, the founder of It’s Aparent has over 10 years of experience as a preschool special education teacher. Before that, Faith Mischel-Golden successfully raised her own two children using the trial and error method. When her children were small, Faith taught Lamaze childbirth classes in the evening. Once her children were in their teens, Faith began to work with adults with disabilities who had children. After working in this field for several years, Faith went back to school where she successfully completed her Masters degree in Early Childhood Special Education.
Faith began a new career as an Early Interventionist and was eventually recruited to teach a preschool mixed class for LAUSD. There, she earned distinction as a no-nonsense teacher and parent educator. Over the years, Faith realized that a lot of the students’ problems were with their behavior and not their “special needs.” So, she began using the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) techniques in her classroom. Faith found the techniques to be very effective and, in order to offer consistency to the students; she taught the STEP program to interested parents.
In 2008, Faith left LAUSD behind and founded It’s Aparent. Faith and It’s Aparent have been very successful in using a behavioral approach to teach limit setting and consequence based parenting methods. Faith and the parents she works with have s seen the change in the children over and over. Faith hopes to continue to help parents to be more successful and less stressed in their parenting.
